Brenda Smith | Executive Director
Brenda Smith is the Executive Director of Nine Mile Run Watershed Association and StormWorks. Over the last two decades, she has worked with nonprofit groups as diverse as humanitarian aid organizations and arts ensembles. She was a co-founder of Global Links and served as its first president from 1989 to 1999.  She is excited to be leading the next phase of NMRWA’s growth and development.

 

Judi Jungling | Office Manager
Judi comes to NMRWA with 38 years of office experience including key skills in data management and customer service. With gardening and nature as two of her greatest passions, working for Nine Mile Run is a satisfying experience for her. Judi’s excellent organizational skills keep the day-to-day operation of the organization running smoothly.

Luke Stamper | Sales Manager
Luke joined StormWorks in 2011 as Sales Manager.  He has an undergraduate degree in environmental science from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s of Education from Slippery Rock University.  Luke is responsible for the development and performance of all sales and marketing activities for StormWorks.  He is currently implementing strategies to provide Nine Mile Run’s stormwater expertise to residents all over the country.  Any free time he has is spent playing bluegrass music with the Mon River Ramblers and being a yinzer with his wife, Jessica, and dog, Rooney.  

Sara Madden | Design Manager
Joining the team as an intern in the summer of 2009, Sara is a Pittsburgh native currently residing in Mt. Oliver. She has an undergraduate degree in fine arts and a Master of Landscape Architecture from Chatham University. Her interests include: contemporary sculpture, garden design, urban ecology, alternative transportation, and environmental planning. In her free time, Sara enjoys traveling by bike through the neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.

Paul Yanulavich | Horticulturist, ISA Certified Arborist
Paul received his Horticulture diploma from Bidwell Training Center. He also recently received his ISA arborist certification. He has worked as a Plant ID/Diagnostic Specialist at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University. He has a special interest in and affinity for taxonomy, which informs his work with NMRWA installing rain gardens and rain barrels.  Paul has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing, both from Goddard College. He enjoys writing, baking and gardening.

Alexa began working at NMRWA in the summer of 2013. She has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies from University of Colorado.  She recently also became an accredited LEED Green Associate. Prior to joining StormWorks, she has worked in renewable energy and other environmental nonprofits.  She is passionate about environmental conservation and sustainable building and operational practices. In her free time, Alexa enjoys hiking in Pittsburgh’s parks.

Sean headshot_webSean Davis, Stormwater Field Technician
Sean joined StormWorks in the winter of 2013 as the Stormwater Field Technician after graduating from Pittsburgh Job Corps, where he completed the Mechanics and Operating Program with the International Union of Operating Engineers. He’s responsible for the delivery, installation, and maintenance of StormWorks’ rain barrels. His interests include astronomy, biology, and earth science. In his free time, Sean enjoys traveling home to Wheeling, WV, fishing, camping, biking, and playing his drum set.
